Hi Megsie

I am so happy for you that your boyfriend was given that news, it is wonderful, I do not see it as being unfair to us. Some people seem to respond to the treatment, as with Ryan it did not seem to have any good effect on him at all. I do hope that people do continue to read his blog as so many people say the same as you how good it was. Ryan was a great writer, he had written many poems, starting at age 6, he was also a great talker. We have managed to get Ryan's password for his blog so we will be writing on that in the near future.

All the best to you and your boyfriend.

If you could keep intouch that would be great my email address is angelalewis@shaw.ca, or if you are on facebook that would work too.

Hi Angela,

I am so sorry to hear that. It brought tears to my eyes as though he was a good friend of mine. Though we never met, Ryans posts had a way of making his readers feel like they were sitting next to him as he shared every detail of his experience just as he would to his dearest friends. His blog and the frequency and frank manner of writing will be a legacy that future Medulloblastoma fighters and their family will cherish and draw strength and understanding from. Though its a terribly sad end for Ryan and all close to him, I have no doubt he will help many people that you will never know.

I wonder if on August 8, Ryan played guardian angel to my boyfriend and our family for the day as this coincidentally was the day the doctors revealed my partners MRI showed no trace of the tumour that was left over after surgery. He still has to complete the planned 9mths of chemo which is hard on his body but to hear the tumour had gone was like all our prayers had come true. I hope our happy news doesn't upset you as I know it won't seem fair, I just find the date coincidental and thought you may like to know.

All my love and prayers to you and your family.

Hi Megsie

Just to let you know that Ryan passed away on August 8th, the last 3 weeks of his life were not good. I am glad that you read his blog and that 69,000 hits have been recorded on it. We had another comment from a man who's 17 year old son had just been diagnosed and said he had come across Ryan blog and was very interested in what he had to say. I hope many other people find his blog of interest to. He was convinced he would get better even if was only for a while and he was still very cheerful and smiling through it all. We now have his two sons to look out for.

Hi Bill

I am Ryan's Mum, unfortunately Ryan passed away on August 8th. I am glad you are reading his blog, hopefully it will help other people to understand this terrible cancer. We have had quite a few people contact him through this sight, wondering why he had stopped writing on July 11th. Ryan was very strong throughout his treatment and was very upbeat that he would get through this for us. There are people who have gone on for quite a few years, Ryan did hear from them, there are 2 in Calgary where we live who have been treated and one has been free for 6 years and the other for about 1 year, but it was not to be for Ryan, he only had 8 months from having surgery, obviously his was very agressive, as none of the treatment seemed to work. Hopefully your son Devin will be a long term survisor, don't give up everyone is different.

I send my regards to you all.
